Dr Christoph Grill

For Dr Grill the overall picture is always the focus. For him a rhinoplasty means not just changing the shape but the harmonious interplay with the face. The aim is a nose that suits you perfectly — natural, unobtrusive and stable in the long term.

At the same time great value is placed on functional improvement, and in particular on free and lasting breathing.

We work a great deal with the modern nose-bridge-preserving technique known as dorsal preservation, as well as with hybrid techniques — not exclusively with traditional structural septorhinoplasty. The natural nasal bridge is preserved instead of being taken down and rebuilt.

This has three advantages: the result looks particularly natural, it is stable in the long term, and the risk of later irregularities on the nasal bridge is reduced — which counts above all with thin skin, because there even the smallest edge becomes visible. Certain deviations also recur less often. Dorsal preservation is not generally superior, but for many findings it is the gentler choice; whether it is an option for your nose is shown by the examination in the initial consultation.

We stabilise the nasal tip using modern cartilage-supported techniques. This significantly reduces the risk of drooping of the nasal tip over the years. Cartilage from your own body is used, usually from the septum — it grows in and changes with the tissue.

With thick skin, a broad bony base, a low bridge or a tip with little definition the logic is reversed: here we build up rather than take down. Definition does not come from removing volume but from a stable cartilage framework carrying the tip against the skin, together with careful handling of the soft-tissue envelope. To that end, Dr. Grill spent a fellowship in Brazil in 2026 with DDr. Jessica Wittmann, working intensively with new and modern techniques of rhinoplasty — with a focus on thick skin and on ethnic nasal shapes. The character of the nose is preserved in the process.

Very many noses that are aesthetically bothersome also do not work well: a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, nasal valves that are too narrow. Dr. Grill therefore examines nasal breathing at every consultation, even when the reason is purely aesthetic. Where it makes sense, shape and function are corrected in a single procedure — that spares a second operation and a second healing period.

Training. Studied human medicine at the Medical University of Vienna. Doctoral thesis supervised by Prim. Assoc. Prof. Dr R. Koller at the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, Wilhelminenspital of the City of Vienna (today Klinik Ottakring).

Professional experience. Consultant at the same department, where he also headed the interdisciplinary hand clinic. For many years part of the Kuzbari Centre for Aesthetic Medicine with a focus on nose surgery.

Teaching. External lecturer in Organ Morphology I–III at the Centre for Anatomy and Cell Biology of the Medical University of Vienna (2011–2017). Interdisciplinary Diagnostics in Dentistry, Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna (2019–2020). Tutor at the Centre for Anatomy and Cell Biology of the Medical University of Vienna (2003–2009). Course “Clinical Anatomy in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery”, winter term 2010/11 to winter term 2016/17, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr Rafic Kuzbari.

Awards. DocFinder Patients’ Choice Award, Kurier “Popular Doctor” seal of quality (2021), several first prizes of the Austrian Society for Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery for the best scientific paper of the year as well as several of its presentation prizes.
